Unable to capture any momentum in the Republican race for the White House, Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) dropped out on Wednesday, as the winnowing of the GOP field continues in the wake of the Iowa Caucus results.
In a statement sent to reporters, Paul said he would now focus on his bid for re-election to the U.S. Senate from Kentucky.
“Although, today I will suspend my campaign for President, the fight is far from over,” Paul said.
When I caught up with Paul last week in Iowa, he had the usual big crowd, but there was no sense that he was on the move in the GOP race.
Paul also issued a video statement.
