Trump hits Clinton on “deplorables”

Ignoring questions about Hillary Clinton’s health, Donald Trump launched a stern attack on his main election opponent on Monday, accusing her of being a powerful elitist who could care less about average working Americans, as Trump tried to take advantage of a Clinton comment about Trump’s supporters.

“You cannot run for President if you have such contempt in your heart for the American voter,” Trump said, as he said Clinton “mocks and demeans” those who work hard.

“The disdain that Hillary Clinton expressed toward millions of decent Americans disqualifies her from public service,” Trump added.

In his speech to a gathering of the National Guard in Baltimore, Trump hammered on Clinton about her remarks to a group of supporters at a fundraiser – here is what she said:

In his speech, Trump repeatedly cast himself as the agent of change, and Hillary Clinton as the status quo.

“I am running so the powerful no longer beat up on the powerless,” he said.

Earlier, Trump made a quiet stop in Washington, D.C., where his hotel had a quiet, soft opening today.

Trump tweeted out a photo of him with the staff of the hotel – which is located just a few blocks from the White House.
